Start in Customer Service, and Ignore Anyone Who Calls It Beneath You

If you feel locked out of the job market, this is where I would start, and I would not let the snobbery talk me out of it.

Customer service has an image problem, and it's wrong. With about 1,545 active listings, it's the most beginner-friendly office category in Israel, and a large share of those roles will take you with no experience at all. When most of the market demands experience you can't get without a job, that open door is the entire point.

Who should run at it

Students, career-changers, and especially English speakers: companies serving global customers actively need English support, which makes this one of the cleanest on-ramps for olim still building their Hebrew. Shift work, real training, no gatekeeping.

Why it's a launchpad, not a ceiling

The people who tell you customer service is a dead end have never looked at where its strong performers go: sales, customer success, operations, team lead, often within a year or two. Get in the door, then move.
