What it is, and what you do

A data analyst turns a company's raw numbers into decisions: pulling data, building dashboards, and answering "what is actually happening and why." It sits between the business and the database, and in Israel it is one of the highest-volume analytical roles on the board.

Where the jobs are

The biggest clusters are Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Petah Tikva, Rishon LeZion, Rehovot, and 59% of listings sit outside Tel Aviv.

What they are looking for

About 30% of detailed listings require prior experience and only ~4% are openly junior, so this is a skill-gated role more than a degree-gated one, though ~63% still mention a degree. The real entry ticket is being able to query and visualize data well.

Tech and product companies pay the top of each band; Python plus a BI tool moves you up fastest.

Market ranges, gross ₪/month, compiled from public Israeli salary surveys. Typical market estimates, separate from the live-listing counts above.

A point of view. Everyone assumes you need to be a Python programmer to break in. The listings say otherwise: SQL and Excel each appear about three times more often than Python. If you can write a clean query and build a dashboard a manager actually uses, you are most of the way there. Treat Python as the upgrade, not the entry fee.

Frequently asked

Do I need to know Python to be a data analyst in Israel?
Not to start. SQL and Excel appear far more often than Python in Israeli analyst listings; Python is the skill that raises your ceiling, not the one that gets you in the door.
Is data analyst an entry-level job in Israel?
It leans mid-level: about 30% of detailed listings require experience and only ~4% are openly junior, but strong SQL, Excel and a BI tool can offset a thin resume.
